So the news came in on Saturday... The Eviction won Best Documentary Short from the Texas Ultimate Shorts Festival. Pretty darn cool??? You betcha. It has some upcoming festivals so it will be interesting to see if it gets in or not.
One of the subjects of the doc is CitySquare ( https://www.dallasnews.com/news/east-dallas/2015/01/03/citysquare-center-moves-to-south-dallas-spreading-opportunities--and-hope ). While it does help the homeless, their focus is bringing opportunity to fight poverty. Though their hands on approach and willingness to roll up their sleeves is amazing. I am working on building connections to try to get contacts to increase my exposure. I will let you know more as that progresses.
Here is a little outtake about the Cottages at Hickory Crossing. These are the houses they built to home the former homeless at an incredible cost savings to the city. While we are looking at these pieces... here is the old way that I started my doc (not the current way).
Meanwhile, trying to make headway on my documentary projects is running into some turbulence, but I am excited about potential.
